Claudio A. Estrada
Dr. Estrada is physicist from UNAM and has a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the New Mexico State University, USA. Dr. Estrada works for the Institute of Renewable Energy of UNAM since June 1988 and his areas of specific interest are transport phenomena in solar systems, mainly in solar concentration systems.
He published over 165 research papers in conference and journals of the Science Citation Index and he is associate editor of the International Journal of Solar Energy. He has advised 34 theses (11 of doctorate). Dr. Estrada has been co-organizer and member of scientific committees of several national and international meetings. He has been president of the Mexican Association of Solar Energy (AMES) and member of the Board of Directors of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). He has won several awards, the most recently, in 2009, the award from the Mexican Society of Physics for the Development of Physics in Mexico. He was director of the Center for Energy Research of UNAM, now Renewable Energy Institute, from December 2004 to December 2012. Under his term as Director, the work was done to transform the Energy Research Center in the Institute of Renewable Energy; transformation was done the January 26, 2013.
At present, he is member of the National System of Researchers Level III and he is responsible for the project National Laboratory on Solar Concentrating Systems and Solar Chemistry of Mexico.
