The Center for Studies of Sensory Impairment, Aging and Metabolism (CeSSIAM)
Noel W. Solomons MD was born in Boston, MA, USA, where he graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School. He later specialized in internal medicine and gastroenterology and clinical nutrition. He has lived in Guatemala since 1975, first affiliated with the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama (INCAP) until 1985; he is the founding Scientific Director of the Center for Studies of Sensory Impairment, Aging and Metabolism (CeSSIAM) since 1985. He has held academic appointments at: Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Boston University and Tufts. His current research interests include: body composition; iron metabolism; child growth; diet and disease; micronutrients; and aging. He has authored over 600 publications.
