Ruth Shady, the Focal Point of the Women for Science Program (WfS) of IANAS is the Director of an important archaeological site in Peru, the Caral Archaeological Zone. This archaic city that contains remains of a civilization more than 5000 years old has been violated. Dr. Shady has denounced this situation and as a response for her intervention, she and her team have received death threats.
