The InterAmerican Network of Academies of Sciences (IANAS), through its Women for Science (WfS) Program, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 edition of the video contest “Let’s Discover Female Scientists” (“Descubramos a las Científicas”). The initiative invited young people from across the Americas to create short videos highlighting the lives, achievements, and impact of women scientists, helping to strengthen public awareness of the crucial role of women in science and inspiring future generations to pursue scientific careers.
The 2026 edition received an impressive number of submissions from throughout Latin America and the Caribbean (more than 80 videos submitted by students from 14 countries, 65 of them confirmed as valid), demonstrating the creativity, commitment, and enthusiasm of young participants in promoting scientific culture and gender equity in science.
As established in the call for applications, prizes were awarded to the first-place winner (USD 600) and second-place winner (USD 400) in each category. In recognition of the high quality of the submissions, IANAS is also pleased to award an Honorable Mention to the third-ranked contestant in each category.
